The Kentucky countryside is a beautiful place teeming with idyllic landscapes. What better way to capture it than through plein air painting? That is why Fairfield Farm Cottage hosts several Plein Air Art Days throughout the year.

The scenery on the property changes throughout the year, offering some truly breathtaking views of the Kentucky outdoors. Visiting artists can spend a relaxing afternoon capturing the serene nature on their canvases.

These plein air events are fairly new as the first one took place in the spring of 2021 with the second following in the summer. On event days, Fairfield Farm Cottage welcomes in artists, both from Paris and visitors, to come paint the farm.

Along with opportunities for painting, Fairfield also provides food for those artists, all of which is locally sourced. The themes of these events range and the schedule is flexible. We typically select some paintings for display at a local gallery. In the past, galleries from Lexington and Midway have displayed work created at our farm. Typically, space is limited so reserve your spot and pay a fee ahead of time.

Migratory bird hunting is a popular activity in Kentucky and that's no different at Fairfield Farm Cottage. Visitors can take advantage of dove hunting season in September on our property and many have had success in the past.

If dove hunting at the Fairfield Farm Cottage appeals to you, be sure to ask us for more information ahead of time. We want you to enjoy the Kentucky countryside and hunting is just one of the many ways you can escape from the grind of every-day life.

Dove hunting season runs in various shifts generally from September until January. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resource sets a daily limit of 15 along with a possession limit of 45.

It is also important to note that all dove hunters must fill out the Harvest Information Program survey before they are considered legal hunters. A Kentucky hunting license is also a requirement before you can go hunting.
